For many years, the late Dr. José Rolando López (Father and Founder) was one of the most beloved and widely know dermatologists in Monterrey. Dr. Dan Rolando López (Son and current Director) is the only Dermatologist in the country with US fellowship training in Dermatopathology and In Vivo Microscopy. A precise diagnosis is crucial to the success of your treatment. Depending on the specific case, our approach may include one or more of the following:
Clinical Inspection
Much can be learned by observing the color, morphology, and distribution of skin lesions. During the initial examination we may suggest obtaining images, and we may also touch your skin to determine if the surface is smooth, raised or rough, and if the consistency of the lesion(s) is soft or firm.
Dermoscopy
In some instances, the information provided by dermoscopy is invaluable. This device enables us to see your lesions at 10X, and with the aid of special polarized and UV356 filters, sometimes the findings are so specific, that they can substitute a skin biopsy.
Optical Microscopy
Both immediate preps for fungi identification (KOH) and parasites, as well as skin biopsies are tools that can help us give a complete name to your skin problem. They enable us to give you the confidence and security of a more suitable treatment.
